999 points total.

The other Marines had a similar
set up with fewer brothers in squads, and an Assault squad led by a Chaplain. Overall
command was given to a Master on his side of the board.
Necrons
had 4 groups of Warriors, 3 Destroyers, 2 heavy destroyers and Lords with veil of darkness and orbs. The Warriors ranged from 16 to 20 troops each.

We had moderate terrain, with
2 large buildings between us and a few hills.
The Necrons, curse their metallic
souls, got the first move and proceeded to blow Dora to bits. The remainder of
the troops moved forward. Their other fire was ineffective.

A general advance was ordered
for the tactical squads. Brother Lucian attached himself to the first squad. The devastators fired into a group of warriors, downing several but with 1 brother
exploding in a shower of plasma. Lucian launched a warp being into several groups
of warriors, causing a few of the warriors to drop. They failed their leadership
test and fell silent! Praise to the Emperor!

A heavy destroyer went down
to the other Marines, and their rockets found another group of Necrons. They
too failed leadership and fell asleep.
Then the first Necron Lord leapt
into the fray, throwing a veil of darkness across the board. In an instant a
group of warriors appeared next to both of the devastator squads and the remaining Whirlwind.
Praise to the dice gods as several gauss shots struck the Whirlwind by failed to do anything more than stun the crew. The pinned groups did weapon checks and made gruesome faces at the opposing Marines. The final group advanced on the flank.

Crassis rounded a building and
found the Necrons making rude gestures. Assault cannon and storm bolter blazing
cut them down. Then he charged into their midst.
The warriors beat on his armor to no effect. His laughter could be heard
as he rampaged amongst them. The devastators, finding warriors so close at hand
laid into them. The other Marines, including the assault squad also lent their
firepower. Then the Assault Marines charged.
The warriors were swept away after failing another leadership test. Lucian
called upon the power of the warp, subjecting the warriors to fear the darkness. The
results were ineffective.
Now the second Lord dropped
his warriors on the opposite of the board. The forces in front of my Dark Angels
were locked in combat with Crassis or falling back.
The advance continued, even
the Devastators moved forward. The first squad finished off the destroyers. The Necron lost in their battle with Crassis, who swept their remains from the table. The battle raged on the left, the loyal Marines taking heavy losses. But another group of warriors fell to the Assault Marines.
Alas, Crassis fell to the heavy
destroyer in a spectacular explosion. With no other Necron to face the advance
continued. The remaining Necron phased out the next turn.

Searching the battlefield a
badly damaged piece of very old space Marine armor was found in the midst of several hundred of the PDF. It was black, probably an early version of Mk V armor. The
wings on the shoulder plates were readily identified. Another Fallen escaped
his proper punishment at the hands of the Interrogator-Chaplains, but showed his loyalty to the Emperor in his last stand.
This
is the first victory against the Necron.
