From a low hilltop
Chaplain Quintus surveyed the field ahead. It appeared the stakes had been raised again in whatever mission the Deathwing
was embarked upon. His command had been tasked with blocking any approaching forces. Any forces at all. It was ironic
that as the emmisary of the Holy Emperor in the Dark Angels, Quintus should lead the battle against the most zealous
of His servants, both the Ecclesiasty and the Inquisition.
"So be it," thought Quintus. "Their fanaticism will be their undoing."
He opened the vox. "Stand firm men, for you are the First and Finest, Sons of
the Lion and the Emperor. Let these deranged madmen and howling banshees will batter themselves against your strength."
The plan was simple, straight forward, and perfect for this foe. Make them
break against a static fire base, then roll up the exposed flank with the speed of the Ravenwing. Qunitus himself would lead
the Assault Squad when time for the killing blow came. Not a single foe would escape alive.
Setup
The WitchHunters set up in
the top right sector of the field. Arco-flagellants and Repentias formed the right flank. A Heavy Weapon squad was next, then
a full Sister's Squad in the woods at the center of the line. Behind the woods sat the Inquisitor's Rhino and an Exorcist.
To the left of the woods another Sister'sSquad waited with a 6 strong Seraphim Squad split over in the middle of the
field. The rightside hilltop in between the battle lines was secretly selected as the point for the Orbital Bombardment.
The Dark Angels set up with
a rightward shift also. On the far right flank flank the 5th Tactical Squad set up well behind the woods, the 9th Devastator
Squad staggered back to the left of them, and the 2nd Tactical Squad on line up to the base of the hill. The 7th Assault Squad
waited behind the 5th Squad for the counter charge. To the left of the low hilltop, the 6th Tactical Squad set up behind two
Ravenwing Squadrons, one of 2 Speeders and 1 of 5 bikes. A Heavy Bolter Scout Squad infiltrated into
the woods to the right front of the lines, and two Scout Squads, 1 Snipers and 1 with a Missile Launcher, infiltrated
into the woods in the middle.

Turn 1 – Sisters
on the Move
WitchHunter Move
The Arco-Flagellants and
Repentias moved forward towards the woods in front of them. The Heavy Weapons Squad and Sister's Squad in the open also moved
forward, as did the Seraphim. The Exorcist rolled out from behind the woods.
Witchhunter Shooting
Flamers and Bolt Pistols
from the Seraphim killed two of the Missile Scout Squad in the woods. Rockets from the Exorcist killed 3 marines from the
5th Tactical Squad on the right.
Dark Angel Move
The Ravenwing on the left
flank and raced forward their full move, behind the woods even with the WitchHunter battleline. The 6th Tactical Squad on
the left flank also moved forwards, while all other Squads held fast.
Dark Angel Shooting
Combined fire from the Scout
Squads in the woods killed 2 Seraphim. The Heavy Bolter from the other Scout Squad killed one of the charging Arco-Flagellants.
One of the Repentia was killed by a missile from the 2nd Tactical Squad, while Plasma and Heavy Bolter fire killed 3 Sisters
from the advancing Heavy Weapons Squad.

Turn 2 – Don't
mess with the Scouts
WitchHunter Move
The Arco-Flagellants and
Repentias moved forward towards the woods in front of them, the Flagellants boosting with combat drugs to get into charge
range, but losing one of their own to an overdose. The Heavy Weapons Squad and Sister's Squad in the open continued to move
forward, and the Seraphim jumped into range of their Scout opposites. The Exorcist and Rhino rolled further out from behind
the woods.
WitchHunter Shooting
Flamers and Bolt Pistols
from the Seraphim killed 3 more of the Missile Scout Squad in the woods. Rockets from the Exorcist killed one more
Marine from the 5th Tactical Squad. The Orbital Bombardment started this turn but failed to kill anyone the entire game.
WitchHunter Close Combat
The Arco-Flagellants charged into the Scout Squad, but 4 were killed by the
entrenched defenders. The last Arco-Flagellant took two Scouts with him in a Fenzy induced death. The Seraphim charged in
to the woods on their side, killing two more Scouts, but losing one of their number also.
Dark Angel Move
The Ravenwing on the left
flank turned to roll up the WitchHunter line. The Speeders heading for the vehicles, the Bikers weaving through the woods
into the flank of the Sisters Squad in the open. The 6th Tactical Squad advanced again while all other Squads held fast.
Dark Angel Shooting
In a weak round of shooting
only 2 Sisters from the left flank Squad in the open were killed by the Dark Angels firing line. A Melta blast failed to penetrate
the Inquisitor's Rhino.
Dark Angels Close Combat
The Scouts killed another Seraphim, but she took a Scout with her, leaving
two of each in the melee.

Turn 3 - Chainswords
of Death
WitchHunter Move
The Repentias moved forward
into charge range of the last 3 Scouts in the woods. The Heavy Weapons Squad moved forward, while the Sister's Squad in the
turned to face the oncoming bikers. The Exorcist rolled back to face the Speeders while the Rhino moved forward towards the
woods on the right flank.
WitchHunter Shooting
The Exorcist and both Sister's
Squads opened fire on the Speeders, but could not hit the fast movers.
WitchHunter Close Combat
The Seraphim and Scouts each killed one of their opposition. The Repentias
charged into the Scouts Squad, and killed them all with only one lost Sister.
Dark Angel Move
The Ravenwing Speeders cruised
towards the Exorcist, while the Bikes roared out of the woods to face the Sister's Squad. All other Squads held fast. The
Chaplain and the Assault Squad jumped right up to the woods to prepare to assault the Repentia Squad.
Dark Angel Shooting
Fire from the Bikes killed two
sisters, but the Speeders both failed to penetrate the Exorcist. The Assault Squad's fire killed 5 of the Repentia. The Tactical
and Devastator Squads killed one Sister from the Heavy Weapon Squad and a Missile skimmed off the Exorcist.
Dark Angel Close Combat
The Bikes Assaulted the Sister's Squad, killing four while losing one, and
driving the last two Sisters into retreat. The Chaplain led Assault Squad killed 6 more of the Repentia, losing
2 Marines, and leaving only one Sister and the Priest standing. The Seraphim and Scout in the central woods fought to
a standstill.

Turn 4 - Killing
the Ravenwing
WitchHunter Move
The large Sister's Squad
in the woods and the Exorcist held position. The Inquisitor's Rhino advanced behind the woods on the right flank.
WitchHunter Shooting
The retreating Sisters shot
down a Landspeeder, while the Exorcist destroyed the other one. The Squad in the woods opened fire with all guns and killed
two Bikers.
WitchHunter Close Combat
The Priest and the last Repentia fell to the Chaplain's might, allowing the
Assault Squad to consolidate towards the center of the battle field. The Scout and Seraphim killed each other.
Dark Angel Move
The Ravenwing Bikers moved
in close to the Exorcist with their Special Weapons. The Assault Squad jumped right up to the woodline and the last Sister's
Squad. All other Squads held fast.
Dark Angel Shooting
The 6th Tactical Squad missed
its missile shot at the Exorcist. The Bikers both missed their shots too. The Assault Squad and Chaplian killed 3 Sisters
with boBolt and Plasma Pistol fire.
Dark Angel Close Combat
The Assautl Squad and Chaplain charged into the trees and killed another 4
Sisters with no losses.

Turn 5 - Nobody
expects the Imperial Inquisition!
WitchHunter Move
The Rhino advanced from behind
the woods and the Inquisitor and his Retinue piled out, sheltering behind the armored vehicle.
WitchHunter Shooting
The Exorcist killed the last
two Ravenwing Bikers.
WitchHunter Close Combat
Another two sisters fell to the Assault Squad, but they managed to kill one
Marine in return.
Dark Angel Move
The 5th Tactical Squad dropped
back to the right to get a shot on the Inquisitor's team. Everyone else held firm.
Dark Angel Shooting
The 5th Squad managed to
kill 2 of the Retinue, while the other Squads disabled the Rhino. The 6th Tactical Squad bounced another missile off the Exorcist.
Dark Angel Close Combat
The Assault Squad and Chaplain killed the last 3 Sisters, while losing 2
of ther own.

Turn 6 - The
Last Stand of the WitchHunters
WitchHunter Move
The Exorcist backed into
the open field away from the woods. The Inquisitor's Retinue ran forward to face the 5th Tactical Squad.
WitchHunter Shooting
The Retinue dropped two Marines
with close in firing and flames. The Exorcist missed its firing across the field at the Devastator Squad.
WitchHunter Close Combat
The Inquisitor and Retinue were able to kill the last 3 Marines of the 5th
Squad, but ended up just short of consolidating into the Devastators.

Turn 6 contd. –
Firing Squad, Dark Angel Style
Dark Angel Move
The 6th Squad moved forward
around the woods, to form a right angle with the main battle line. The Second Squad moved to add their Bolters to the firing
line against the Retinue. The Assault Squad jumped forward toward the Exorcist.
Dark Angel Shooting
The Devastator Squad poured
fire from Bolters, Plasma Cannons, and Heavy Bolters into the Inquistor and his Retinue, turning them into a pile of cinders.
The Assault Squad's Plasma Pistols failed to penetrate the Exorcist's armor.
Dark Angel Close Assault
The Assault Sergeant jumped onto the Exorcist and connected with his powerfist,
but was still unable to damage the seemingly impervious machine.

As he strode through the carnage back towards his battle lines, Chaplain Quintus made a mental note to recommend any of surviving Scouts
for immediate promotion to full Battle Brother. They had performed exceptionally well in the face of a fearsome foe, almost
singlehandedly stopping both assault thrusts by the enemy.
The loss of the Scouts, Ravenwing element and the 5th Tactical Squad were unfortunate,
but still very light considering the strength of the foe. Holding an uncontested battlefield was another boon, as it
allowed the Apothacaries immediate access to the fallen. Of the fallen Marines, half would probably live to fight another
day, and 100% of the Gene Seed would be salvaged. The same could not be said of the Sisters and the Inquisitor. There were
no survivors.
